Social business

In September 2018, Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Mohammed Yunus said at a conference we organised in Matera: "Poverty is not created by the poor, poverty is created by the current economic system. The poor are the same as other people and are generally good people, but this system does not give them any opportunities. The concentration of wealth and the concentration of resources are the main problems. This is the reason why we are developing another idea: Social Business. It is a new system that does not aim at creating money, but at solving people's problems."

With this goal, the Foundation, the Università degli Studi della Basilicata, and the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health (Dhaka) founded the Yunus Social Business Centre Basilicata: to promote the social business methodology successfully applied by Professor Yunus all over the world, to transform both young Italians and young foreigners from ‘job seekers’ to ‘job creators’.
